CONSULTATION A "behaviour problem" is any behaviour your dog carries out that cannot be tolerated (either by yourself or the general public). This could be anything from a minor nuisance to the more serious problem of biting people or other dogs. We feel strongly that help with dog behaviour problems should be affordable and available to everybody. OPTIONS: 1. Behaviour assessment £50 with subsequent sessions charged at £10 each (you control how many sessions you feel you need until you are confidant handling your dog). 2. Aggression assessment £50 followed by £250 (to cover insurance costs, staff costs etc) with subsequent sessions charged at £10 each. 3. Aggression Boot Camp (minimum 14 days) £1,345 21 days £1,945 The initial assessment fee of £50 is charged in order for us to ascertain the options available to you. It is entirely up to you whether you want to continue after this assessment. The session lasts at least one hour giving us the chance to discuss your dog's issues in detail plus get to know him/her at the same time. We may suggest a particular training course if we think it would benefit you and your dog, otherwise you may benefit more from regular sessions (at £10 each) until you are happy to go it alone. Of course, we're always here to help and you will only ever have to pay the assessment fee once, even if you need to bring your dog back for a different issue later on. However, we do please ask that any new issues are brought to our attention as quickly as possible. Aggression cases cost more as these often require more time to solve. Two instructors are on hand to ensure maximum safety of everyone involved, including any dogs used, as well as your dog. This gives you support for as long as you need it, including other behaviours that may appear later. You control how many further sessions you feel you need to regain control and get your confidence back. And at £10 per session (to cover our time and insurance costs), we feel this is an affordable sum for most people. A typical first behavioural consultation normally lasts around 1 to 2 hours and includes a good walk with your dog. I prefer to conduct the initial session at my place for several reasons. Most importantly, I can offer you and your dog increased safety by using a location familiar to me. I also have several dogs available to me when dealing with dog aggression cases. Another benefit is that territoriality is far easier to identify (or rule out) if a dog still shows the behaviour away from his/her territory. We can always arrange a home visit at a later date if necessary.
As every dog and owner has an individual relationship and lives in a unique environment I find it helpful to tailor a behaviour program to specifically suit you and your dog. This also ensures that you will not be doing anything which you are uncomfortable or unable to do. Or why not let us do the hard work for you by sending your dog to our AGGRESSION BOOT CAMP? Your dog stays in my home (no kennels!) where I can work more intensively with him/her. Quite often it proves easier to work on aggression without an owner present. This is often because the owner has seen their dog at their worst and it can be very difficult to put this out of one's mind and relax. The tension from owners very often has a detrimental effect on the dog's problems and it can be far easier and quicker to work with the dog for a few weeks before handing over to the owner...
A typical hand-over session can last between 1-2 hours and you will learn about all the things your dog has learnt, as well as how to maintain this. We also send you training videos of your dog's progress (via e-mail) so you can see how your dog is doing during his/her stay. Your dog will be participating in up to 12 classes per week and we can also provide a tailor-made instruction sheet for your dog to ensure the behaviour is maintained at home. If we think your dog would benefit from one of our workshops as part of his/her training, then we will offer you this at a discount or free of charge if your dog has attended 'Boot Camp'. You are also welcome to join us for social walks (£10 each) to keep up-dated and develop your confidance once your dog is back home. Depending on your dog's issues, one or two home visits may be required following Boot Camp. These will be charged at £30 per hour + travelling expenses.

What happens after a consultation? A follow-up visit can be booked at the time of the consultation. It is impossible to say how long it takes to solve a problem as this depends on many factors: the length of time your dog has had the problem, severity of the problem, type of problem, amount of time available to dedicate to changing behaviour, etc. However, no problem can be solved without a lot of time, patience and effort being put in by the owner/family… unfortunately I don't have a magic wand!
We understand how distressing it can be when your pet doesn't behave the same way that other dogs do. Therefore, I like owners to keep me updated regularly. We also run walking groups specifically for our clients with difficult dogs and dogs that need extra attention (naughty dogs don't teach other naughty dogs anything they don't already know!!). This is a great opportunity for us to monitor you and your dog's progress, as well as, a chance for you to get back your confidence when handling your dog. Here we can also show you the best techniques to use when walking your dog in the exact place you need help! Nobody has to feel embarrassed as everyone is in the same boat. Walks cost £10 and are currently run on Saturdays at 4pm at Blackheath (near Wonersh, Guildford). Please call or text Glenn on 07735 584 684 to book a place on one of these walks as spaces are limited. Two instructors attend these walks. (Although every attempt is made to keep this website up to date, times are subject to change so please call to double check). Clients that have attended a consultation and assessment are welcome to join us on our day time walks, by appointment. Again, this is a great opportunity for us to monitor progress and continue to help for as long as clients feel they need it. (£10 per walk to cover our time and insurance costs).
